The BFC launched LONDON show ROOMS in 2008, taking emerging talent to Paris during Paris Fashion Week to sell in a showroom environment. The initiative was an instant success and has grown season on season, supported by Sarah Mower, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent, who took the lead in galvanising high profile media support for London’s hottest rising stars. In addition to Paris, LONDON show ROOMS now moves to different markets with carefully curated groups of designers ranging from emerging talent, to London’s New Establishment and guest designer brands. Designers are selected based on optimum opportunity to engage local media, retailers, stylists and the broader fashion communities in LA, New York and Hong Kong respectively.
LONDON show ROOMS is supported by farfetch
as Global Sponsor. farfetch collaborates on promotional events in
various international markets and by connecting its global network of
Independent boutiques to the LONDON show ROOMS designers.
farfetch is a revolutionary new way to shop for fashion, uniting the
world’s best independent fashion boutiques in one online destination: a
curator of fashion curators. This pioneering concept brings together the
collections of Europe and North America’s most influential, multi-brand
designer boutiques, and so provides customers with an unrivalled range
of labels and products in one easy-to-shop website.
Jose Neves, CEO and Founder of farfetch commented, “We are delighted
to be a global partner of LONDON show ROOMS, a dynamic initiative from
the British Fashion Council. We believe the association with farfetch
is a perfect fit as it connects talented and visionary British designers
- all with a unique view point on fashion with the world’s best
independent boutiques. Our business model is about celebrating
independence and entrepreneurship by providing a platform for these
amazing boutiques to sell to a fashion savvy global audience. What
better way to showcase this than to support such a worthwhile project.”
LONDON show ROOMS is also supported by the European Regional Development Fund and UK Trade and Investment (that in London is partially funded by the European Regional Development Fund).
In New York, it is held in partnership with the Centre for Fashion
Enterprise, and in Hong Kong through the commercial sponsorship by Li
& Fung. The project is co-directed by Anna Orsini and Barbara
Grispini for the
British Fashion Council with the support of the BFC’s Ambassador for
Emerging Talent, Sarah Mower.
