The British Fashion Council supports and promotes leading British Fashion Designers in a global market place.  Funding comes from the generosity of leading businesses in fashion retail, media and finance and support from the UK Trade & Investment and the London Development Agency.

The BFC relies on its members, their longstanding commitment over the last 25 years has made international promotion of the British fashion industry and its talented designers possible.  BFC membership is an opportunity for these industry benefactors to collectively pass on their expertise and knowledge to a sector of British industry which is globally recognised for excellence, creativity and talent.  All members play an important and mutually beneficial role by investing in developing future design stars and building the global reputation of our industry.

In December 2007, the London Development Agency made a £4.2m grant to the British Fashion Council over three years. This financial injection is being used by the BFC to develop and implement a number of initiatives which will have far-reaching and long-term benefits for the UK’s Designer Fashion Industry.

UK Trade and Investment has supported London Fashion Week since 2002, providing funding and expertise to help bring key international retailers and press to London Fashion Week each season and providing funding for market reports and the BFC designer showroom during Paris fashion week.
