Creative Pattern Cutting Scholarship

The BFC Creative Pattern Cutting Scholarship was awarded to one or more fashion graduates from a Colleges Council member college. Applicants were students who had been offered a place on a London-based pattern cutting course who, for financial reasons, would otherwise have been unable to take up the place.

The scholarship comprised fee payment and/or a contribution towards expenses. This initiative was supported by the London Development Agency from 2008-2009 and subsequently by the Princess of Wales Charitable Trust.

The BFC Creative Pattern Cutting scholarship was created in recognition of the vital role skilled pattern cutters play in supporting London’s talented fashion designers.

"My pattern cutters are some of my most valued staff, they are the ones who help to realise my ideas and often act as co-designers, making ideas stronger through clever construction techniques." Richard Nicoll
