As a new designer, I find it important to focus on being innovative in the way I design and also tailoring my name to achieve something which isn’t typically seen on today’s market. It is important to me that the designs and garments I produce not only have unique aspects to them but are also produced with quality. I specifically like focusing my designs on base concepts from earlier time period and pushing these traditional ideologies through to modern day concepts. For example, my final collection is heavily based on the British military in the 1960’s, but my final outcome shows a very modern twist on the original ideas of what military dress is. I’m driven by the repetitive cycle within the fashion industry as a whole and how, typically, designs are never truly unique. This drives the urge to break away from that cycle and create a change which is accepted into the high-end norms. Understanding time scale and demand, the creations of completely new ideas is unrealistic which is where reinvention comes into play. This ideology created the drive to want to create new and exciting concepts into my final collection. Disliking the visuals of camouflage but appreciating the concept, I wanted to play a twist on this and challenge the idea of reproducing the look of camouflage whilst still respecting its natural form. Ultimately, my goal is to design with purpose, creating pieces that inspire people to dress in a way that is both is comfortable and expressive. I believe fashion should not only reflect personal style but also empower individuals to feel confident and authentic. I aim to offer garments that resonates with diverse lifestyles and personal narratives. My intention is to provide a form of expression, allowing people to showcase their unique identities through.
