Bay Paley, a British fashion designer specializing in womenswear, presents her SS25 collection, Do We Not Need the Tea-Room More Than Ever? - a contemplative exploration of the quiet power of tea and the philosophy of teaism, where the ritual of tea becomes a path to harmony, mindfulness, and inner peace. The collection title, a quote from Okakura Kakuzō, feels especially relevant in today’s fast-paced world, and became a grounding idea for the collection - an invitation to slow down, reflect, and reconnect. Tea, for me, has always been a way to come together with others, a shared moment of calm and solace amid daily chaos. Each garment draws from the nuanced world of tea: from the pleats of teabag edges to the circular movements of a matcha whisk. At its heart, this collection is a subtle reminder of the beauty in pausing and the deep meaning found in the most intentional, mindful moments. In creating this collection, I have used natural materials to honour the authenticity and timelessness of the tea ritual.
