3. Focusing on the details taken from intimate wear and delicate 1920s garments, Mathilda Weston’s graduate collection ‘La Garconne’ explores colour and opacity through layered knitwear and contrasting fabrics. The collection demonstrates how knitwear can create the illusion of layering through Trompe-l’œil techniques, while challenging traditional body proportions with drop waists and boxy silhouettes. Fine mohair yarns are set against the sharp tactility of pleated clear PVC, creating a contemporary twist on femininity and delicacy through textile and form. Thank you to Filpucci for sponsoring some of the Mohair yarns in my collection.
