I am a creative of Caribbean-British heritage who specialises in fashion design and looking into innovating new British Caribbean style and dress. My research is rooted through my personal connection and heritage of my family coming from the Caribbean- Jamaica. My work conveys and connects my family’s history and celebrates the home. In my independent research project, I focused on the Caribbean home in London and how it plays a massive part of Caribbean life living in Britain. I used the connection of the home and the clothes worn to reflect how we used clothing to represent our culture and respecting what we call home. My collection focuses on both my grandmother's generation moving to Britain from the West Indies accompanied by richness taste of delicate furnishing to the home and my mother's rebellious fashion. The contrast between the rebelliousness nature of my mother's style in the 90s combined both masculine silhouettes with the feminine silhouette.
