My concept for my final collection is based on my heritage. My project is inspired by the unique blend of my parents' careers: my father’s career as a pilot and my mother’s career in fashion, especially her close ties to Indian craftsmanship. My father’s career as a pilot has exposed me to the streamlined, functional elements of flight wear—precision, structure, and resilience. From my mother, I’m drawn to the soft, flowing beauty of Indian textiles. To explore these ideas, I travelled to India with my mother, learning about the vibrant fabrics, colours, and traditional techniques that shape her work. A key part of this collection is my use of bias cutting, inspired by designer and pioneer Madeleine Vionnet. This technique allows me to create smooth, flowing silhouettes that combine the draped, elegant Indian style with the tailored, sharp lines of aviation wear. By mixing these elements, the collection celebrates the balance of strength and elegance, showing how both masculine and feminine influences can work together to create something unique and harmonious whilst celebrating both my parents’ career backgrounds.
