This collection explores the tension between femininity and the sexualization of women’s bodies through clothing. It challenges the idea that women’s outfits are inherently provocative because of how society views the female form. By reinterpreting “sexy” and “provocative” dressing, this collection aims to reclaim power, questioning who defines what is sexual. It plays with the fine line between empowerment and objectification. This collection additionally reflects on the bond between mother and daughter, especially after loss. It intertwines femininity, sexuality, and how a mother’s influence can persist even after her physical absence. The collection is a narrative about legacy, growth, and reclaiming personal identity as a woman—torn between societal expectations and the intimate lessons passed down from my mother. It also delves into the way women’s bodies and identities are seen through the generational lens—how mothers teach daughters about femininity and womanhood. Exploring the contrast between my memories of my mother and my own journey into adulthood. I was also inspired by the raw energy of Glasgow’s punk scene, this collection channels the fierce, DIY spirit that transformed anger and frustration into a bold, unapologetic fashion statement. Rooted in a dishevelled aesthetic, each look reinterprets classic punk staples—torn fabrics, safety pins, leather, and tartan—infusing them with personal defiance and Glaswegian edge. Tartan and plaid, symbolic of both heritage and rebellion, present through the collection, celebrating Scotland’s legacy while subverting conventional forms. With elements of provocative feminism, this collection reclaims and redefines femininity through unpolished silhouettes and unapologetic exposure. It’s an ode to punk’s liberating impact on gender and identity, where bold, rough styles empower wearers to challenge societal norms and express themselves authentically.
