Bethan Walker is a fashion designer specialising in womenswear, menswear, print, tailoring, and utilitarian design. With a distinct approach that merges sharp construction with conceptual depth, her work explores the tension between structure and sentiment. Strong foundations in pattern cutting and garment production underpin every design, bringing technical precision to emotive storytelling. Her aesthetic blends soft tailoring with utilitarian elements, drawing heavily on military references and workwear silhouettes to create a distinctly androgynous look. This functional yet refined sensibility is central to her identity as a designer, with garments often engineered to reflect resilience and adaptability, without compromising elegance.Deeply influenced by personal history, Bethan’s BA collection was a tribute to her late grandmother—a pivotal figure who not only introduced her to sewing but also inspired her to embark on a career in fashion. The collection explored her life during and after World War II, charting her journey of relocactaion from London to Middlesbrough. Childhood nostalgia and themes of innocence were interwoven throughout the designs, reflecting the way her grandmother, later in life, would often return to her wartime memories due to Alzheimer’s. The garments became vessels of memory—balancing playfulness with poignancy—capturing the emotional complexity of both history and heritage.
