Hebe Hope is a Womenswear designer with a strong interest in tailoring and corsetry, as well as creative pattern cutting. Her designs are often influenced by the heritage of her birth name, Hebe: The Greek Goddess of Youth, with powers to grant eternal life, and this appears in her work both visually and conceptually. Hebe’s BA final collection focused elsewhere within Greek Mythology, taking inspiration from Athena, Goddess of War and Wisdom, and Artemis, Goddess of Chastity and Hunting. Hebe interned for Sílpa during her internship year, an emerging luxury street wear brand based in Manchester taking print inspiration from South Asian culture and silhouettes from the 70’s, which inspired her to put a stronger emphasis on organic silhouettes in her collections and to experiment more in 3D. During this internship, she had the opportunity to craft custom Menswear pieces for celebrity clients in the music industry, which taught her how to specialise in custom fitted garments. She likes to work with a wide range of techniques, from hand embellishment to 3D sculptures or laser cutting. In consideration of sustainable design practises, Hebe’s BA final collection incorporated organic and scrap materials, such as wild deer antlers sourced ethically from the Scottish highlands, and fabric scraps left over from laser cutting to craft an entire skirt. Hebe has also gained industry-level fabric sourcing experience in Eastern China, which has developed her knowledge on fabric technology and commercial design.
