Maisie’s work is rooted in personal stories, drawing on memories, identity, and emotional experiences to inform her design process. Family, personal growth, and nostalgia are recurring themes, often explored through innovative prints and thoughtful tailoring to create a clear narrative thread throughout her collections. Her graduate collection at The University of Salford reflected this approach, taking inspiration from her grandmother’s reluctantly abandoned dream of becoming a ballerina in 1950s London. Imagining a “what if” scenario, Maisie developed garments that blend vintage influences with contemporary silhouettes and storytelling. Maisie is drawn to the expressive potential of clothing, how it can reflect identity and carry meaning beyond aesthetics. Whether through the colour palette of a family photo or the texture of a childhood memory, she designs garments that invite connection and reflection.
