‘Night Night Sleep Tight’ explores the phenomenon that is sleep paralysis, the journey is divided into three phases providing the collection with a structure of pairs, harmonising perfectly with the double birds-eye view i have of myself during paralysis. Phase one is confusion, the upside down, think mismatch seams and warped prints. Phase two, constriction, suffocating fabric and thoughtful construction. Finally, phase three the demons, this varies for me night to night, using spikes as a symbol of this fear through both knit and appliqué. Interning at Supriya Lele broadened my horizons to more creative pattern cutting paired with draping and delicate finishes particularly when using sheer putting this into practice within my work brought a refreshing softness to the collection. The collection is cohesive yet chaotic in the detail and fabric choices which were all sourced in Shaoxing, China, Fabric city. merging screen and handprint with textural knit, fabric such as PVC sheers and Goretex all adding to the confusing state of paralysis.
