Oliver Santini is a London based designer who specialises in traditional menswear tailoring. Santini takes inspiration from family heritage and poetical works such as Dante’s Divine Comedy. His work looks into the more historical and traditional cuts of menswear tailoring like the tailcoat and then elevates these into more contemporary looks with the use of prints and exaggerated structure to help tell a story. His work focuses a lot on the structure of the garment and how shape can inform the overall impact and importance of the outfit. This is seen in his heritage work where he uses the silhouette of Sri Lankan ceremonial wear and the fabric of his family’s clan tartan to create an outfit that reflects both cultures in the most impactful way possible. Santini has taken on live briefs with established tailoring brand clothsurgeon of 40 Savile Row and was shortlisted in the final submissions of work. His knowledge and passion for tailoring has earned him a place at the London Academy of Bespoke on Savile Row to further his skills in the art of bespoke tailoring. Santini’s aspirations are the become a master tailor on Savile Row and then further grow his knowledge and skills in bespoke tailoring. Santini hopes to one day have his own shop where he can express his creativity in bespoke tailoring to his personal clients.
