Faye Francis is a Unisex designer from the University of Brighton. Her latest body of work "The Runaway" is a character driven, sustainable collection that takes inspiration from Faye’s up-bringing in rural Kent. The collection is also influenced by the passage of time, and the looks aim to encapsulate its effects on materials. Faye uses intricate handcrafted techniques and detailed hand embroidery to convey the story of each look. Through processes such as patchworking and deconstruction, carefully sourced second hand garments have been reassembled and transformed. Unconventional materials like tarpaulin and bed sheets have been reimagined and repurposed. Throughout her collection Faye explores the use of natural dyes creating deep colours inspired by berries and the earth, and fabric manipulation; entangling, tearing, and entwining to create interesting forms. “The Runway” blends sustainability and craftsmanship and Faye hopes to highlight and leave viewers thinking about the connection between us and our clothes
