As a womenswear designer, I channel the richness of my family and cultural heritage through materiality, colour and technique. My graduate collection explores youthful nostalgia through my grandparents’ lives in 1970s Egypt, capturing an eternal holiday feel inspired by Venetia Scott’s playful styling. Influenced by Rudi Gernreich and Louis Féraud, it celebrates my grandmother’s vibrant identity through layered yet humble silhouettes. Traditional garments like the galabeya and keffiyah are re-imagined through a contemporary lens, while Nubian forms are referenced through laser-cutting. Laminated jerseys and tinted organza mimic the textures of developed film, while architectural drapes honour my family history. Designed for youthful women who long for nostalgia, the collection invites those drawn to timeless silhouettes and tactile storytelling as it weaves together memory and material.
