My design practice is a picture of dualities: conventionality versus weirdness, simplicity versus boldness, professionalism versus silliness. In my past, I developed an affinity towards clean, streamlined fashions from years of working in corporate offices; but, contrarily, I also adopted more unique, unconventional styles that could greater express that hidden, eccentric part of my character. It is this enduring balancing act that has formed the core of my work in menswear, as I aim to explore that incorporation of oddness and queerness into traditional men’s clothing to challenge entrenched societal notions of identity and power. My 2025 collection dives into this tension between the typical and the bizarre by drawing inspiration from a longtime personal hobby: juggling. The world of juggling and circus, as I have long experienced it, remains to be less understood by the general public: yes, viewers can see the activity on a level of visual splendor, but they likely do not understand it intellectually nor care to partake in it. It is this perspective of strangeness towards a rather everyday part of my individuality that informs my collection: a presentation of established forms of tailoring and classic menswear infused with understated elements of eccentricity and imagination. Just as my participation in fashion - both my personal tastes and work in design—is a major expression of myself, so too I believe everyone’s clothes and styles are fundamental reflections of their own characters and beliefs. With that comes tacit restrictions: menswear, with its particular history and conventions, imposes on its wearers certain standards of uniformity and banality. This collection is a quiet first step towards breaking into this untouchable arena, a journey of discovering the foolish in the refined, the fluid within the rigid, and a true, believable sense of freedom within men’s fashion.
