My collection is a fusion of Thai culture and punk, reflecting a mix of contrasts and harmony that speaks to my own identity. Rooted in the vibrant, rich heritage of Thailand, with its intricate patterns, bold colors, and beautiful embellishments, I weave these elements together with punk’s raw, rebellious energy—spiky studs, metallic yarns, and bold, statement-making designs. I focus particularly on the Akha and Khayan tribes, drawing inspiration from their intricate headpieces and neckpieces, which I have incorporated into my work. These pieces hold immense cultural significance, and I aim to pay tribute to them while giving them a modern, rebellious twist. One of the key elements in my collection is the use of bells, which are deeply embedded in the culture of northern Thailand. These bells symbolize connection and tradition, and I’ve woven them into the fabric after creating a double cloth technique that forms a pocket within the fabric. This adds both texture and meaning to the pieces, marrying form with cultural significance. My collection also challenges traditional gender norms, striving to create gender-neutral designs that allow for freedom of expression. It’s a reflection of a personal desire to break free from the constraints of conventional gender expectations. Ultimately, through this work, I hope to create a space where identity and culture can coexist harmoniously. It’s a celebration of both heritage and the spirit of rebellion, offering designs that are as bold and diverse as the individuals who wear them.
