My final collection, titled "Complexities of Adulthood," is a deeply personal exploration inspired by my transition to adult life after moving to London at a young age. This body of work serves as a visual diary of my coming-of-age experience, captured through the lens of fashion. Navigating the challenges of independence, identity, and growth, I found myself confronted by the raw, unfiltered reality of adulthood. It was during this formative time that I discovered my muse in the most unexpected place: mushrooms. When I first arrived in London, I had limited skills to navigate daily life. Cooking, a fundamental part of living independently, was something I struggled with. In the beginning, mushrooms were the only thing I could cook properly. As I matured and expanded my abilities, mushrooms remained a constant presence, a quiet companion on my journey to self-discovery. Their organic, versatile forms began to inspire the design language of my collection. The soft curvature, intricate textures, and natural draping found in various mushroom species influenced my pattern cutting, fabric selection, and silhouette development. I approached each garment as a sculptural form, echoing the gentle folds and structure of mushrooms. The fragility and strength coexisting in their anatomy mirrored my own evolving identity. To document my creative journey, I quite literally used my memory box as a foundation, draping fabric directly on it. The circular shape of the lid became a recurring motif, chasing itself throughout the collection in seams, cuts, and silhouettes. "Complexities of Adulthood" is more than a fashion collection; it is a story of growth, vulnerability, and perseverance. Through this work, I invite viewers to engage with the intimate layers of my journey, and perhaps, to reflect on their own. The mushroom, once a symbol of my limitation, has blossomed into an emblem of my evolution, a metaphor for the strange, beautiful process of becoming an adult.
