Camille Taylor is a womenswear designer and BA (Hons) Fashion graduate at Ravensbourne University London. Her work is rooted in a refined approach to evening wear, using draping as a foundational technique for building elegant and expressive silhouettes. With additional experience in tailoring and knitwear, Camille integrates structured and textural contrasts into her designs, adding depth and versatility to her work. Her graduate collection, titled “Evening Wear,” is a conceptual exploration of how clothing can reflect the effects of insomnia. Inspired by the quiet yet chaotic moments of restlessness, Camille began by studying the movement of garments and bedding during sleepless nights. This theme became the foundation for a body of work that blends intimate wear with emotional storytelling. Drawing from the silhouettes of traditional sleepwear—such as slip dresses, dressing gowns, and oversized T-shirts—Camille reimagined their forms through creative pattern cutting and draping. By manipulating scale and proportion, she constructed garments that portray the movement of clothing on and off the body during the night. Attention to detail is central to Camille’s practice. Her designs feature hand-applied fringing, layers of sheer fabrics, and carefully placed silk paneling—textural elements inspired by textiles like curtains and bedding. These techniques not only elevate the visual language of the collection but also reinforce the concept. Every choice in fabrication and finish is deliberate, contributing to a narrative that’s tactile as well as conceptual. Camille’s work sits at the intersection of craftsmanship and emotion. Through her collection, she communicates the quiet vulnerability of sleeplessness while maintaining a strong visual identity rooted in elegance and structure. Her ability to blend concept with wearability positions her as a thoughtful designer with a distinctive point of view in contemporary womenswear.
