I view fashion as a tool for self-expression that can be used to form connections and challenge social structures. I like to design with a sense of play and joy, shaping my memories and personal experiences into a contemporary design style, looking to bold shapes, textures and colours for inspiration. My design identity is grounded in sustainability through a celebration of craftsmanship and slow making. My graduate collection explores how traditional craft is interwoven with the lives of women and ties us together, passed down through generations as a means of storytelling and heritage. Through my creative process, I have reflected on how historically oppressive needlecrafts can be reclaimed to improve wellbeing, evoke joy and unite communities.
