From hand embroidery to bespoke tailoring, Freya has a passion for precision and craftsmanship. Her approach to tailoring blends classic techniques with a modern sensibility for design and detail. Rooted in the traditions of classic bespoke, her work draws inspiration from architecture, tailoring methods and experimenting with new techniques. Her most recent project began looking into brutalist design, progressing into the physical break down of concrete structures and the people who live in this city environment. The lack of work-life balance, commuting and the push for longer and longer working hours each day is displayed through clothing by the physical representation of deconstructing formal office attire. Using fabric design techniques, experimental pocket designs and exploring ways to use raw edges, all whilst striving to maintain a high quality making standard. This project embodies Freya’s continued interest in narrative-led design, refined tailoring, and innovative construction. It is demonstrative of her broader practice; making garments that are thoughtfully designed and created to a high standard. Continuing to refine these skills and develop new techniques is a key focus for her to continue to expand her technical knowledge going into her future practice.
