I’m Mellissa Goswami, a BA (Hons) Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles graduate from Nottingham Trent University, originally from Assam, India. My design identity draws on cultural heritage, feminism, and storytelling, using textiles to challenge norms and empower wearers. My graduate collection, Contorting ‘Norms’: Challenging Society, explored women’s clothing and body policing through layered silhouettes, structured knits, and gold threaded accents. It symbolised restriction, liberation, and rebellion, blending Assamese traditions with modern expression. Selected for Graduate Fashion Week and nominated for FASHANNE Awards 2025, my work reflects my concept driven approach. Skilled in industrial/domestic knitting, garment construction, and Clo3D visualisation, I combine craftsmanship with digital fluency. My industry experience includes Pentex Ltd and De’Jon Pier’e. I aim to tell stories that resonate, reclaim, and inspire, merging sustainability, tradition, and innovation.
