To reminisce on her Grandfather’s Greengrocer business, The Salad Bowl, both through her memories and his. Drawing inspiration from popular stories retold throughout her childhood, to understood the value of quality and longevity. Focusing on more organic and locally grown sources of material, whilst ensuring all design elements allow for multiple functions and wear. Focusing on the early years of business, during the 1980s, the store used local produce specially chosen by her Granddad from the town market early every morning. Understanding the functionality of the community-structured livelihood of a greengrocer and marketeer to encompass the daily uniform of a local working-class man in Northern England during the period. Whilst reflecting on the textures, colours and materials found within the store, as well as within her grandfather’s wardrobe. Taking reference from the hues and shapes replicated through produce, in addition to classic practical items found within the store, for the use of packaging and sales. Throughout the collection, a consistent theme of elevated and functional workwear is collaborated with organic, tonal fabrications to reinterpret the reliable uniform of marketers in the late 20th century.
