Traditional meswear and its overpowering structural forms seen in Western Europe, as well as its widespread influence, have long since sparked in me a sense of rebellion to defy it, and a will of search for alternative relationship between us and our clothing. This collection acts as a medium for allowing the nature of the textiles to take center stage by allowing it space for movement and continuity through the use of considerate cutting and construction. During the development process for this collection, a novel approach to study of the ergonomics of the body and its movement, has allowed for an alternative outlook challenging traditional construction and volumes of the established garment archetypes. Questioning the importance of positioning the crotch seam in perfect symmetry across the body has resulted in disturbance of visual balance and natural formation of intriguing drapes in the fabric. This practice, further supported by constant interaction of toiles with the body, has allowed for tangible, practical feedback enhancing and furthering the technical understanding of the cut and nature of the cloth, directly influencing the development of the design. Similarly, the idea leading the development of a shirt collar cut as one panel with the front of the garment, has been motivated by the desire to eliminate distractions and create a continuous form fully embracing the textile.
