As a designer, I strive to create rich narratives in the garments that I design. Using my detail-focused design method, analysing vintage and worn-in garments and taking inspiration from muses, I often find myself telling stories of contemporary living in my design work, and designing for the intricacies of modern living too. My graduate capsule collection, ‘IF YOU CAN’T STAND THE HEAT…’, wholly represents my style and techniques as a designer. It tells the story of the hospitality lifestyle and the chaos and camaraderie of the kitchen. Designing this collection has not only enriched my love of workwear-inspired design and practical and unconventional details, but has established my affinity for unexpected textiles, such as Tyvek in this case, combined with traditional craftsmanship like leatherwork. I have an interest in carrying what I have learnt from this collection into the menswear / unisex design space for a medium-high end market.
