Ivan is a multidisciplinary designer and artist exploring complex emotional experiences like grief and longing through sculpture and knitwear. Rooted in a tactile approach, his work seeks to hold emotion in material form where softness and sharpness coexist. Coming from a family of architects, structure and composition have always been part of his creative language. As a maker, he’s driven by curiosity, always seeking to understand and craft meaning through design. Hollow Touch explores the emotional aftermath of grief through sculpture and garment. Using his own body as a starting point, Ivan creates silhouettes that hold memory, regret, and longing. These forms are built from concrete (the weight of sorrow), ice (the paralyzing stillness of loss), and knit (the lingering warmth of touch). Each piece contains intentional voids—spaces meant for contact. At times, these openings are obstructed by ice, creating a tension between the desire to connect and the impossibility of doing so. The work invites interaction, but also asks for stillness and patience. It speaks to the intimacy of absence, and the quiet presence of what we can no longer hold.
