My work centres around the concept of movement enhanced garments. I spent a lot of time researching different methods of engineered pattern cutting to create flexible garments suitable for physical activities. My work tends to fit into both street wear and sportswear categories fusing the styles together with a clash between sports fabrics and fabrics such as denim, leather and knit. My graduate collection is inspired by different aspects of urban lifestyle, looking at urban subcultures such as street art/ graffiti, skateboard culture and the development of street dance styles. I sourced high quality denim as one of my main materials as most of my collection garments are outerwear, I wanted to ensure durability. I also included high quality materials such as leather, cotton drill/ twill and cashmere knit in this collection. I’m my work I value garment functionality, wearability and durability so ensuring correct fit, flexibility and materials used for the garment was one of my main concerns. My collection although targeted as menswear I would consider the collection to be unisex as it’s more targeted towards a group of individuals that enjoy certain activities and environments.
