Ben is a womenswear designer with a strong focus on concept creation and creative direction, using research and visual storytelling to shape emotionally driven design outcomes. With a strong attention to detail, his practice combines pattern cutting and drape with excellent drawing, visual communication and CAD skills to translate ideas into resolved garments and considered design narratives. His work explores emotion, vulnerability and the tension between preservation and decay, drawing on themes of memory, grief and transformation. Influenced by medieval art, religious symbolism and studies of the abject, Ben investigates the body as both monument and ruin, reinterpreting historical narratives through clothing and creating garments that act as emotional artefacts carrying traces of lived experience. Interested in the relationship between discomfort and beauty, Ben often combines distressed textures, imperfect construction and sculptural silhouettes to create work that balances rawness with sensitivity. His practice exists in the space between softness and severity, using fashion as a way to provoke emotion and challenge perception.
