Gaia is a womenswear and knitwear designer with a practice-led approach to design and a focus on technical innovation. Her work explores constructed textiles as systems where fibre and knit generate both material and form, investigating how flat knitted structures evolve into three-dimensional, body-responsive garments informed by ideas of space and transformation. Combining domestic and industrial machine knitting, she develops hybrid constructions that prioritise texture, technical innovation and material behaviour. Working mainly with natural and deadstock fibres such as silk, wool and viscose, Gaia focuses on tactility and sustainability through careful material choices and minimal intervention. She often uses undyed or lightly processed yarns to highlight the natural qualities of the fibre, with colour-particularly blue- introduced as a considered emotional and conceptual element. Through techniques including intarsia, felting and pleating, she develops garments through tension, structure and fibre behaviour rather than traditional pattern cutting, supported by ongoing sampling and technical experimentation. Alongside her practice, Gaia has developed extensive industry experience through internships with Callon, Loop Studio and Indalia, working across knitwear development, sampling, garment construction and digital production for a range of contemporary womenswear designers. These roles have strengthened her precision, technical innovation and understanding of both independent and luxury studio environments. Her work exists in a space where knitwear, body and structure are continuously negotiated through process-led design.
