The project is rooted in the landscapes that I am fortunate enough to have experienced, embodied in a camouflage developed from my own images as an ode to these environments. All materials, with exception of thread and acetate, are either reclaimed from other objects such as parachutes, bags, and sails, or deadstock donations from friends and the university. The gathering of these materials takes years of accumulation. In many cases I find it best to collect first and assign a purpose later. When it comes to deconstructing things, I try to use as much of the “animal” as I can. The idea to make use of what we already have is important to me, and I believe that through its constrictions it pushes a method of working that creates new and interesting results both materially and visually, forcing me especially to stray from conventional military/outdoors colourways. The clothes are not streetwear, nor are they built technically for the outdoors; they belong somewhere else.
