Ellie Sermon is a womenswear and knitwear designer whose practice combines narrative-led research with technical experimentation and material innovation. A graduate of Kingston School of Art, her work is informed by surface textile experimentation, creative pattern cutting and toiling, and technical knit development. Her graduate collection draws on the psychological tension of John Fowles’ novel ‘The Collector’, exploring themes of romance, restraint, fragility and power through contemporary womenswear. She combines digital and industrial knit development, foil printing, pleating and material contrast to create garments that balance delicacy with structure and vulnerability with control. Ellie is a versatile designer with a strong foundation in concept development, knitwear, garment construction and material innovation. Her practice produces outcomes that are both emotionally considered and thoughtfully resolved.
