Lucy Cowap is a recent 1st class graduate at Kingston University for Fashion Design. She specialises in womenswear with her work including print, leatherwork and outerwear. Lucy prioritises sustainability and craftsmanship within her practice, often taking a political stance to talk about current issues and seeking hope within it. Her recent graduate collection called ‘KEEP YOUR HUMANITY’ calls upon the perseverance of the human spirit in a world that is seemingly out to destroy itself. From using print as a way to bring people together to a jacket made of scrap leather from a heritage shoe factory in her hometown, the collection explores the feeling of comfort and protection through its outerwear. An intimate vulnerability persists through vintage lace coated in natural latex to preserve what is left. There is no synthetic fibres within this body of work and every detail was sourced with intention.
