I am Amber Rosario, a recent Fashion Design graduate from Falmouth University, Cornwall. Circularity, collaboration and experimentation are the driving forces behind my design process.  I create garments where the whole life cycle is considered, from fibre to future. Designing and making in response to every stage of a garment’s journey allows me to discover ways to extend its lifespan, reduce waste, and create pieces where beauty and responsibility co-exist.  Zero waste pattern cutting has become a huge part of my practice. Rather than seeing sustainability as a restriction, I am excited by the possibilities within that constraint. Working in this way challenges me to rethink habitual methods of construction and often leads to more unexpected and interesting outcomes.  My way of working is instinctive and experimental. I like to test ideas, exhaust different possibilities and allow the materials themselves to influence the direction of the work. A sense of discovery is important to me when making; responding to what happens during the process often reveals opportunities I could not have planned at the beginning.  Collaboration is central to my creativity. My graduate collection was shaped through working closely with a textile designer, photographer and dancer, allowing the garments to be explored beyond a static concept or final object. This collaboration became part of the design process itself. The relationship between maker, performer and photographer opened new ways of seeing the work and reinforced my interest in clothing as something deeply human that continues to evolve through all the people who interact with it.   Ultimately, my work explores how we can rethink the way we design, make and consume clothing. I want to create garments that are beautiful and responsible, while still leaving room for experimentation, curiosity and play.
