A Collection that explores the contrast of the 1950s London and Dior's New Look. Utilising tailoring, experimental draping and creative pattern cutting, creating new contemporary women's wear. My collection stems from my Grandad's era the 1950s, and the idea of what a ‘typical’ Londoner of that time was, i.e. flat cap, cockney accent and a tough persona. This Autumn/Winter collection showcases the contrast between the heaviness of the doom and gloom found on Old Kent Road contrasted with the ‘New Look’ and the influential designers of the time who epitomised elegance through attention of detailing i.e. drapery, pleating and silhouettes.
