Slipware is an exploration of 1920s women’s sport suits, focusing on personal history of my granny and her home surroundings of the Dorset area. Slipware focuses on a local Dorset manufacturer of ceramics, Poole Pottery. Slipware celebrates the last generation of older woman who walks with poise without whispering of being perceived. Silhouettes are influenced by drapes and classical 1920s proportions with a focus on the original granny skirt. Air-dried clay is used throughout the pieces, which has been sealed to create a ceramic like textile.
