Enraged by the, all high powers that be. The wo􀀏d is forced into a rigid, monotone way of life. Bound by unlawful ideals and warped minded individuals, people become vessels of wandering souls forgetting the life they once lived. A life of repetition and autonomy with no escape is the only way forward, any one found defying law and life is no longer. My project explores themes around the societal pressures of work and conformity and how one can lose themselves and a part of their identity through the autonomous reputation of work life. This is reflected through history most notably the 50s looking at old photos of my great grandparents and the life they lived, juxtaposed with the modem day working class equivalent. As the story progresses the characters start to break free from these constraints and try to reconnect with their once 'lost soul' where I fuse overarching themes from both history and the present of breaking free post work life. Within this juxtaposition I created a 50/50 split where I abstract key silhouettes and structures from different factors within the 50s as the main foundation for garments and contrast this with the modem world of technology within the present working life and use this form of technology to influence and inspire glitching textiles and techniques. The story begins with ·The conformed' an individual so engulfed in the repetition of life there's no form of freedom. Restricted and burdened by the undulating life of consistency they willingly and blindly follow false leadership. We then meet "the warped' who longs for nostalgia and decides to search for their once lost soul, still somewhat precarious of stepping out of their autonomous routine; the restless character blends tailoring but is broken down by more distinct tones of textiles. This look transpires and is informed by warping suiting garments through styling to create these silhouettes that feel distorted creating the image that they are trying to break free from these conforms. The third character that is introduced is the broken, now free from the repetition of life they finally find the courage to defy post adult constraints blending bold I silhouettes with exaggerated textiles, referencing a sense of identity outside of the restriction of 9-5.
