Drawing from my background in Figure skating, 'Veiled in frost' translates the movement, elegance and embellishment of competitive figure skating dresses into an occasion wear collection. Research into modern skating costumes and 19th century Russian film costumes informed silhouettes, fabric choices and detailing. Extended bodices, sweeping trains, and silk draping reflect the movement of skating on ice, while structured wool coats reference historical outerwear designed for warmth and protection. One of the key features of the collection is the styling; fur accessories and trims, layered diamante jewellery echoing icicles of the harsh winters in st Petersburg, and textile techniques hand stitched onto the hat mimic snow dustings creating an impression of someone returning from the snow, helping to fully transport the viewer into a story. The considered craftsmanship and attention to detail of each piece showcases my skillset as a designer.
