‘Vivian’ Reckless Heritage is a tailored menswear collection, the initial inspiration for this collection came from the film ‘Withnail and I” written and directed by Bruce Robinson. The idea of an artist that can't seem to shake their dream or can't bear to lose their spirit. The collection is a character analysis of a man who is constantly obsessed with their desired artistic medium, coming from a very well dressed background, of high society Britain. I believe we have lost the fundamental relationship of garment and wearer (with the height of fast fashion). This collection is an insight to the joy of worn and individuality in clothing, and how they change with the lifestyle of the wearer. In this collection I wanted every aspect and detail to be authentic, believable and real, selecting British wools, Lochcarron tartans and commissioned bespoke horn buttons. The garments themselves could be found in an old wardrobe and still be beautifully worn today. My design direction goes further than making bespoke garments that people like, it is about finding the character of who they really are.
