My collection TREPIDATION is an artistic outlook, translating irrational fears and phobias such as claustrophobia in the context of a collection of garments. The collection was made to feel as if the garments are clinging to the body - hugging it too tightly and creating silhouettes that make the wearer feel trapped, enclosed as well as feeling like a second layer of skin. Throughout the process I wanted my garments to have an uncomfortable and distorted feel to each piece. I explored this through creating my own textiles, fastenings and varied silhouette types - some very theatrical, some especially tight and some that physically trap the wearer.
