Whitsands is a womenswear collection inspired by the quiet beauty and raw energy of the Cornish coastline, combining fluid silhouettes and soft neutral tones with a strong focus on sustainability. The collection aims to reduce environmental impact through the use of 100% natural fibres and geometric zero-waste pattern cutting. Each garment was designed with intention, ensuring every piece of fabric had a purpose within the final silhouette. Rather than limiting creativity, the zero-waste process encouraged experimentation, resulting in layered constructions and pleated details inspired by shifting tides, coastal rocks, and windswept landscapes. Fabric offcuts were repurposed into design features, further minimising material waste. Working directly in 3D allowed the fabric to guide the design process organically. Whitsands reflects a slower, more thoughtful approach to fashion, demonstrating how sustainable design can support innovation, craftsmanship, and emotional connection while lowering the environmental impact of contemporary womenswear.
