My Graduate Knitwear Collection – ‘The Marks of the Land’ is a visual exploration of the Scottish landscape and how it can be investigated through knit in a fashion context. Throughout this collection I used knitted constructed techniques to reflect a painterly approach, highlighting vegetation and rock formations captured as broad knitted mark making. The early morning mist and the Scottish haar find life in the sheer and layered approach to garment making, contrasted with the heavier knitted garments that evoke the solidity of the land. For this knitwear collection I created knitted textiles for fashion that are an organic form – ever moving and evolving through subtle movements.
