My project explores the expectations placed on South Asian women and how these pressures shape identity, femininity and freedom. Inspired by everyday domestic life, girlhood memories and traditional womenswear silhouettes, I investigate the contrast between society's idea of the "perfect woman" and personal individuality. Through layered dress-over-pants silhouettes, asymmetrical handkerchief draping, delicate lace, gathered details and unfinished construction, I communicate feelings of fragility, restriction and emotional resilience. Sustainability is central to my practice, using natural dyeing techniques such as tea, coffee and botanical dyes to reflect imperfection, care and slow craftsmanship. The collection balances softness and strength, combining nostalgic and feminine elements with deconstructed forms to express the journey from expectation and control towards freedom, balance and self-expression.
