This collection explores the person experience of living within a state of ambiguity. For a long time, I perceived my inability to clearly define my identity as a weakness. When questioned about where I come from or how I define myself, the lack of a clear answer created a sense of discomfort and uncertainty within me. However, I began to question whether identity must be fixed at all. Identity is unstable, continuously changed through experience, environment, and relationships with others. These experiences accumulate in layers, including aspects I once considered weaknesses. Growing up in Japan forms the foundation of my identity, which I translate into garment structure and pattern. The pattern is constructed symmetrically to reflect stability and order. In contrast, the textiles express emotion and imperfection through asymmetry and irregularity. Through the tension between structure and surface, the collection attempts to express a state that exists between stability and instability, clarity and ambiguity. Rather than resolving ambiguity, this collection embraces it. Through clothing, it explores the possibility of existing in undefined states and reflects an identity that continues to shift and evolve.
