Circa 90’s Manhattan. This project is about creating The Bird Lady’s world, in which she is a once-grand runway aristocrat, who is now decaying like the opera house she lives in. She spends her days in the park, covered in bird excrement. She sees the glamorous Lee Razzell in the distance, the famous socialite. Maybe she once visited the opera house. Inspired by Lee’s elegant 1960s silhouettes, she reads about Isabella Blow and the buzz of Alexander McQueen. She uses old curtains, decaying threads and old opera costumes to recreate her muse’s style. However, like The Bird Lady, the collection is falling apart and slowly, but surely everything is ripping. The elegance of her muses is there, but not quite the same. It’s a collection or the avant-garde, romantic balance, decadence and dishevelment.
