Sophie Parry’s creative practice explores the relationship between emotion, identity, and lived experience through fashion and visual storytelling. She creates concept-driven work that communicates psychological experiences and personal narratives through clothing, textiles, and image-making. Her project ‘Welcome Home’ explores the emotional aftermath of war and the hidden vulnerability beneath strength. Inspired by her father’s experience of joining the military at sixteen, the collection reflects on trauma, memory, identity, and the challenges of returning to everyday life. Throughout the project, Sophie experimented with sublimation printing and laser etching to distort imagery and distress fabrics, representing fragmented memories, emotional erosion, and psychological conflict. Structured military-inspired silhouettes contrast with transparent layers and distressed textures to express the balance between protection and vulnerability. This project strengthened Sophie’s approach to concept development and encouraged further experimentation with textiles, mixed media, and visual communication. She hopes to continue creating emotionally driven work while building a career across fashion design, creative direction, and visual communication.
