This Collection explores the relationship between sportswear and everyday dress through the lens of the modern commuter. Designed for individuals navigating walking, cycling, and transitional environments throughout the day, the collection responds to the stop start nature of movement within Northern urban climates. Inspired by performance garments engineered for extreme conditions, particularly wetsuits and their protective entry systems, the project investigates how technical design principles can be translated into contemporary outerwear. This is expressed through details such as a chest entry commuter smock, modular components, ventilation systems, and extended coverage designed for cycling posture and changing weather conditions. The collection combines natural performance fibres such as merino wool with technical synthetic materials to balance thermoregulation, breathability, weather protection, and durability. Pattern cutting techniques influenced by Shingo Sato further enhance movement and adaptability through articulated construction and intentional seam placement. Positioned between sportswear, tailoring, and utility wear, the outcome is a modular garment system that allows the wearer to transition seamlessly between activity, work, and everyday life without compromising comfort, function, or appearance.
