I am a womenswear designer whose practice combines soft tailoring, textile storytelling and digital embroidery to explore femininity, identity and self-defined dressing. Working across garment construction, print and surface design, I contrast delicate craftsmanship with softer tailoring, balancing romantic detailing with elements influenced by traditionally masculine dress. Central to my practice is inherited craft. Inspired by my grandmother, who practised bobbin lacemaking, hand embroidery and dressmaking, I explore the relationship between traditional craft and contemporary womenswear. Although my grandmother was offered a scholarship to the London School of Needlework, a lack of confidence prevented her from pursuing it professionally. However, at eighteen she independently moved to Paris, learning the language whilst working abroad. I view this contrast between quiet creativity and resilience as a defining influence within my practice. Through digital embroidery, textile manipulation and narrative print design, I reinterpret traditional techniques within a contemporary context, using craft as both decoration and storytelling. My work is driven by a desire to preserve inherited practices whilst challenging the idea of feminine craft as something confined to hobby or domesticity. Research into women’s changing roles, historical dress and contemporary femininity informs my approach to design. Through fluid silhouettes, intricate detailing and refined ease, I create garments intended to encourage confidence, individuality and women dressing for themselves rather than expectations shaped by the male gaze.
