The concept for this collection is deeply personal, inspired by the journey I have experienced since contracting meningitis at age two. It highlights and raises awareness of the long-term physical impacts the illness can have beyond initial recovery. Through experimental draping, subtraction cutting, and asymmetric silhouettes, the collection translates my body’s changes, such as scarring, imbalance, and scoliosis. Bandage-like silhouettes, curved seams, pleating, and uneven proportions illustrate the healing process and physical changes. At the same time, cyanotype prints mimic x-ray imagery, revealing what is usually hidden beneath the surface. Ultimately, the collection raises awareness of meningitis amount university students and challenges traditional beauty standards by celebrating imperfection and transforming perceived flaws into something powerful and visible.
