“Fashion can be used as a microphone to share stories and provide a voice to those who struggle to be heard; each garment should hold a meaning within it.” – Katy Reilly I am a print and textiles designer who has worked across womenswear, menswear, gender-neutral and childrenswear projects. I strive to design with intention, developing concepts that have personal significance because I believe this creates a meaningful connection to each individual garment. A theme I continually return to is nature and the way the passing of time is reflected in people compared to natural environments. Nature is not only a source of inspiration but also a guiding principle within my ethical approach to design. I am working towards the long-term goal of creating without causing negative global impact, whether through repurposing existing materials or sourcing more sustainable alternatives. I also enjoy experimenting with textile and print design using natural resources, as this encourages a slower and more purposeful creative process. I aim to create intrigue through my use of texture, as I believe it strengthens the bond between a garment and its wearer by heightening the sense of touch. I achieve this by combining unexpected fabrics and creating surface textiles that are applied to garments, adding depth, interest and tactility to my designs.
